What a Georgia Church Does to Support Our Troops through Chaplains

What a Local PCA Church Does to Support Our Troops Through Chaplains

Cherokee Presbyterian Church PCA in Canton, Georgia, has a military ministry committee and supports three chaplains, Randall Bowen, Tom Faichney and Jonathan Razzano.  We send a package to the active duty chaplains in June and December, and try to monthly send a card or email and Tabletalk devotional magazine.  We also support twelve additional soldiers who are members of our church or relatives and friends of members and also send them packages twice a year and monthly cards.

In December, our Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack also helped with ministry to the military.  Brian Venable, a scouting father who is a sales manager for “Santa’s Own”, donated pre-lit Christmas trees and shipped them to all of the chaplains and soldiers that our church supports.  The Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack in our scouting ministry and the Sunday School classes and Christian schools made ornaments for the trees, which our church shipped.  Throughout the year the Sunday School classes, scouts, cub scouts and congregation send cards for the chaplains and soldiers at Christmas and for their birthdays.  A few times a year we ask for donations from the congregation to support the ministry.
